Frantisek is the epitome of a team player and an excellent time triallist. He is current Czech National Time Trial Champion and 2009 was a brilliant year in his career with a win at the Tour de Romandie prologue. 

In 2010 he has started his season with continued success winning the time trial at Vuelta a Murcia and taking his first ever stage race victory.

The special thing about cycling is the grand tours. I think it's incredible just to finish these races. There is no other sport where it's possible to play 21 games in 23 days.

I like the group of people in this team. For next year we have riders from 18 different countries in the team and it is incredible that everything still works perfectly.

• What are you doing when you're not cycling?

During the off season I enjoy playing other sports like; Ice hockey, and squash. Some of  my personal hobbies include: cooking, shopping and drinking coffee!

• What do you like about riding for Team Columbia-HTC?

In one team we have around 17 nationalities, so everyone can feel like  part of the family.  At least thats how I feel.

• What is your greatest childhood memory on 2 wheels?

When I won my first race

•  How did you get into cycling?

My father was a professional cyclist, and when I was really little I was doing many different sports like swimming, running etc., but when I was 13 I chose to go with cycling.

•  What has been your biggest challenge as a pro cyclist?

My first start at Giro d´Italia (My first grand tour). It is my dream is to win stage there or to wear the pink jersey.

• Share a memorable pro career moment:

 My whole career as a professional Cyclist!

•  What is your most embarrassing moment?

When I came to my first meeting of my first team and I couldn´t speak any language besides my native language, but it has made me educate myself in learning other foreign languages, and it is not easy.

• What is the last song you listened to before you turned off your Ipod/Zune?

•  What is your favorite comfort food?

Any and all italian foods! (like mozarella with tomatoes, all kinds of pasta, pizza,..)
